Urban Ministry (UM) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization founded in 1991. It started as a joint partnership between Christian Reformed Church North America (CRC-NA) and local churches. It currently is operating in four cities (states):
UM's mission is to bridge the poverty gap between rural and the urban dwellers by focusing on empowerment through access to credit facilities and enterprise development assistance. The following are the 4 core program initiatives:
- Income Generation (micro finance)
- Adult Literacy
- Health education (nutrition, HIV/AIDS, etc)
- Advocacy/Value formation
ThreadStone is excited to promote the cause of Urban Ministry - during shows and by volunteering in various UM projects! Support the cause through prayer and understanding the need for the various urban populations around the world.
